Who is a leader? Any examples of leadership in our society?


1. Who is a leader?

Many definitions;

A leader is someone who inspires passion and motivation in followers.

A leader is someone with a vision and the path to realizing it.

A leader is someone who ensures their team has support and tools to achieve their goals.


Christian Leadership;

“Leadership is the act of influencing/serving others out of Christ's interests in their lives so they accomplish God's purposes for and through them,” Bill Lawrence, 

John Maxwell: "Leadership is influence - nothing more, nothing less.“


Question 2

Why is leadership important?


Matthew 5:14–16 (NIV)

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Leadership is greater than titles, personal ambition, or unhealthy competition. True leadership is about service, sacrifice, influence, and helping others fulfil God's purpose for their lives.

3.Growing in Leadership

God calls us to lead and to help address the challenges of our world. For example, the Bible says that we are the light of the world. As followers of Christ, we are called to influence others positively and to make a difference wherever God places us.

God also expects us to grow in our leadership calling by developing our character, gifts, and ability to serve others effectively.


2 Timothy 2

1. Teacher

You have heard me teach in front of many witnesses. Pass on to people you can trust the things you’ve heard me say. Then they will be able to teach others also.  Verse 2

–reproductive – influence others with the knowledge of God’s word that you know.


2. Soldier

3 Like a good soldier of Christ Jesus, join with me in suffering. 4 A soldier does not take part in things that don’t have anything to do with the army. Instead, he tries to please his commanding officer.  Verse 3-4

– Loyalty or faithfulness


3. Athlete 

It is the same for anyone who takes part in a sport. They don’t receive the winner’s crown unless they play by the rules.  Verse 5.

– discipline.


4. Farmer

The farmer who works hard should be the first to receive a share of the crops Verse 6

– Hard worker


5.  Worker

15 Do your best to please God. Be a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed. Teach the message of truth correctly.  Verse 15-19. 

– diligent



Conclusion.

This is a kairos moment—a significant and God-ordained time of opportunity, purpose, and action. 

“I looked for someone among them who would stand up for Jerusalem. I tried to find someone who would pray to me for the land. Then I would not have to destroy it. But I could not find anyone who would pray for it. Ezekiel 22:30

In every generation, God seeks men and women who will stand up in the church, nation, community or family to provide godly leadership.
